My friends and I took a few days and did a canoe trip. I didnt fish as much as I wanted, but what can you do.
Started at Rochelles and paddled upstream 7 miles the first day, set up camp on an island for the night, went up another 6 miles up the next day and packed up nd went home the third.

I lost one small bass on the first day on a swimbait. Got one small guad the second day on a fly, and didnt fish the third as it was raining.
I spent most of my fishing time trying to get a buffalo on the fly.
saw a ton of buffalo, a few gar, a few bass and perch. Didnt see anything bedding

You probably caught a Spotted Bass or Smallmouth as there a no Guadalupe this far north. Cool trip.

That sounds like a rough trip. What made y'all decide to paddle up river? Seems like it wouldve been easier to paddle down from the damn.

Mustve been a spot then.

The flows are too low for Rochelles shuttle to run, and we didnt want to deal with a trailer. The paddle wasnt too bad. Water is low so we had to drag the boats about 12 times each way. The paddle back down river was nice and easy though
