Has anyone been fishing there lately or the Laguna madre side of that area? What are they catching if anything and on what please . I'm a mainly freshwater guy and I've been down there half a dozen times and have only caught hard heads gaff tiny pompano and skip Jack's while fun of course I want to get into some trout drum or reds. Any advice appreciated. Ialmost forgot I have to shore fish no boat .

I got ya. If you're on the pier, use shrimp(live or dead) under a cork. Cut bait and mullet will also work. If you're fishing lagoon side, same bait options apply. Try Packery channel, along the causeway, or cosway pier.

My advice would be, don't try to get to Bob Hall pier via South Padre Island. You would have many hours of driving because Bob Hall Pier is on North Padre Island across the causeway from Corpus Christi.
Other than that, you should be able to scare up some whiting and pompano on the pier. On the Laguna Madre side, redfish and black drum should be good.

Hey Bud. consider fishing the bays while there. Nothing as fun as wade fishing the shallow flats for reds and trout. If you like piers try the Red Dot on S.P.I.D. They have a website HERE There is another large lighted pier off S.P.I.D. right next to where the packery channel meets the inter-coastal. I've never fished it but it looks killer. catch some small crabs on the beach or under pier lights at night with a dip net and fish them around the pylons with a heavy leader and a small but stout hook for sheepsheads. Man they are a ball to catch, Hard to clean, but as good to eat as they come.
