I thought I would share this video that I made showing how loud we are as we go about fishing from a sub-surface viewpoint. I took our hydrophone and recorded a bunch of stuff from rattle traps to power poles and much more. I hope this helps you catch a few more on your next trip.

Awesome video! Thanks Gene.

I would have never guessed conversation could be heard so clearly at 10 ft. Crazy! This gives me an excuse to shut my chatting buddy up while we are fishing.

Interesting, I would like to hear the sounds of other baits compared to the 'trap. Crank bait with and w/o rattles, spinner bait, chatter bait etc.

Good info for sure......someone on here was trying to give me grief for saying what you just so obviously demonstrated to be true. My dad used to really get on me about being quiet when I fished and he was right.......I can think of a pro angler or two that needs to see this. Can anybody get this to Ike?

I liked the video and I know sounds carry very well underwater. For instance, I can play music on my phone and place it into our pool and you can hear the music almost everywhere underwater.

However, I am a bit skeptic about the video since Hydrowave was involved in making it.

So in your first line, you agree that sounds carries well underwater because you can hear your phone playing music all over your pool, but yet you contradict yourself by saying you are skeptical because it's made by Hydrowave? OK hammer

I wish you would have slammed a rod locker.

If you don't understand my statement then I doubt you would understand any explanation thereof.

My dad had a rig with a cassette/am/fm stereo radio. I tried playing it while fishing. What I picked up on in a hurry was I turn on the music I turn off the fish..............I also think he made one of the most compelling cases yet in support of shallow water anchor systems.

I was on Pirky the other day and catching a few. I got a little bored and turned on the radio. The bites were slower for sure. I enjoy listening to music when I'm by myself, but I guess if im fishing shallow I will leave it off.

That was cool. Isn't underwater sound equipment designed though to filter and enhance sound. I don't doubt this research one bit but I am not sure about the clarity. I have no idea how a fish hears compared to us but if you go under water you can here people talking but to me it is muffled sounds when talking in normal voices. But it is sound regardless. We need the caterpillar drive system from Red October designed for trolling motors.

I was just having fun and thought it would be cool to share with my buddies on TFF. No motive for Hydrowave in fact I disproved a myth that the wave is a big time cover. Next time I'm out I will get some more. I don't have Talons so no go on that. Give me some recommendations and I will get them. Our Hydrophone is the best made so I'm sure it does a great job but if a blind bass can detect a shad I'm pretty sure what I picked up is very close to what they detect. Again, I was just out having fun and experimenting.

I think conditioning plays a part too...
I've caught fish under docks where people were partying or swimming nearby. Think those fish are used to the commotion. (I've seen the same thing with whitetail deer)
