Fairly new to it, what are you looking for in a bait? Noise, flash, depending on water clarity for color? Hoping rain will turn on a bite. If you found fish while covering water would you slow down and try a jig/t-rig for a bit?
I can backlash toilet paper. PB: 7.8 @ Ladybird

I throw a single spin orange bladed spinner bait in any bad weather, rainy days included. They are extremely aggressive to orange when there is a drastic weather change. Huge stringers of bass have come on this spinner bait during inclement weather on 5 occasions. My big stringer back in 1972 was a 10 fish limit in a tournament of 62 lbs. I still have that spinner bait and custom make some exactly like it. I will be glad to help you build one just from the parts you may already have.
