I have not caught them shallow yet on lakes but my fishing logs tell me they will be shallow starting next week.

Hey Duck-Jerky, around here on lake x I think it will be about 2 weeks before the water will be warm enough. Historically this is when it gets in full swing. We still need some sun to warm the water on those Northeast shorelines.

I went yesterday and did find a few in shallow, 3-5 fow, on Lake X. Found some riprap late evening, seems everyone had the same idea. I caught several large slabs, no dinks at all, could not stay any later than 8:30. By the time I left there were 12 folks fishing that 100' of riprap catching a few slabs. It was all fun it's just maybe a little tight quarters there. I don't think I'll be back there on a Saturday night!!!!

I saw a heron on pines catch a keeper crappie in a foot of water two days ago. I was bass fishing but immediately threw a crappie jig shallow! I caught a couple and went back to bass fishing. There's some shallow if the water is 50 plus.

I agree Coach JC, they are in the shallows for sure. All we need do now is find 'em.
