I canceled my plans to Livingston this week and was able to find a screened shelter for Thurs-Sat this week on Lake Belton at Cedar Ridge Park. I have never seen or been on the lake... I will be taking the family and plan to fish for hybrids and/or whites. Has anyone been catching them lately? What areas of the lake are best this time of year? What depths? Any dangerous areas to avoid?

Thanks for your help!!!

The lake is very low so be carefull if using shad you can find them around 36 bridge may not be easy but some being found As far as the fish go you might check the Girl Scout camp area but don't know for sure on the fish.

Got on several fish with the family! We ventured south Thursday evening and found really small fish and no bait on a 40' flat near the dam. Only had 2hrs to scout, but realized that the fish were not south, and changed plans for the following day. Friday was our fishing day and we got started around 11:30am and headed north. Just as I was about to turn around, I spotted a few fish busting bait on the surface! I slow rolled in, ipilot anchored, and nailed 2 with my son on a rattle trap and a slab spoon. The fish went down quick and we moved to where they were schooling and set up over a loaded graph with slabs and started catching a bunch of fish! Fish wanted the slab jiggled a couple times and then held still suspended from 18'-24'. We caught well over 100 fish! Most of them were 16-17" hybrids with keeper whites, and hybrids to 23" mixed in. We even landed a keeper crappie! Had a great day on a new lake and will definately be heading back! The fish were in the color change area of the lake just off channels in 25-30 FOW. They were schooling next to a wind blown bank mixed with trees.

Big D; you are an inspiration. After reading your account on Belton, I went out and had my first 50 fish day of the year on Belton. It was all catch and release. We caught 3 keeper hybrids, a bunch of undersized hybrids, and a lot of skinny white bass. There were also 4 green fish. I would like to acknowledge a big thanks to Matt Cartwright of Tawakoni for showing me the way to success. It was a great afternoon on the water.

Glad to hear beltonbill!!!

I learned my graph skills and fishing techniques from some awesome guides on Lake Livingston! They brought some north Texas techniques down south and changed the way we fish! My son and I booked a trip with them every season last year and they turned our fishing into catching! We fished 3 lakes we had never fished before and produced fish on them all!

Thanks Again Chris & Michael Richardson!
