well I bit Waco this mooring with a soldier from ft Hood today and his wife; we pick up a few up in the creek by the twin bridges. the the wind kicked up pretty bad. His was did not like it and we cant do had back to the ramp. I was feeling bad that we did not catch that many. but when i talk to 2 other boats at the ram the only had 3 fish between the two of them. they said ti had been really slow the past few weeks. I am going to take my kids out money weather premitting the lake was just a little low. the fish we did catch were on slip forks in 6ft of water

ok, so I went again today to waco. Didnt even get a single bite. fished from 8 till 12, fished hard, tried the usual spots. Then on my way in I was passing by the first place I had stopped at and decided to try it again. After a few minutes, Bam, something hit one of the rods hard. I was reeling him in and when he was about 3 feet from the boat he broke my 30lb leader line. I saw the fish, I'd say 20-25 lbs. A few minuted later, Bam. One just slammed the other line. It was pulling so hard I couldnt even turn the handle on the reel. At one time I thought I was hung on a log because I couldnt budge it. Then I could still feel it and the fight was on. Didnt last long as he broke the 30 lb leader too. This one was a 40-50 lb. beast. Oh, now I am going to re rig with 50 lb leader.

upon closer inspection the second big one didnt break the line, he pulled the knot out from the hook. So Im gonna rerig and use palomar knot but how do you use a palomar knot on the swivel for your leader line ? What kind of knot do yawl use ?

Trilene knot is just as strong as polomar I have used it since the 1980s and never had a knot let go or break .

Another knot I started using this winter I learned from Chad Furgeson at Catfish edge it's called an "easy snell" for your hook . I watched his video a couple of times and tied a perfect one first time , real easy to do .

welcome on board. I see you're a first time poster. I dont believe anybody is going to advertize where they go, general trend is fish shallow. Your best bet is book a trip with a guide. The best guide on waco is fishhauler. 254.495.6726

You are in for a let down after fishing cedar creek. Waco is a good lake but it is no Ceder Creek.

I can only tell you where I have had success and that is the old damn and near airport park. Also fishing by the south and middle bosque trees. If you want yellow cats go the 185 bridge!
