One of my buds bought a rod that vibrates the bait through the line. Being a $200 rod I was wondering if anyone has used or heard of any results. I put the plastic lizard in my hand and walked out about 50' and I'll be danged if the little bugger wasn't vibrating so I don't know if it does that in the water I could see it working especially in stained water.

I've seen them as well. Neat concept, sure, but I would spend the $200 in boat gas for more time on the water instead. That's the only thing closest to a guarantee for catching more fish.

Gimmick-- The things that bass feed on (crawfish, worms, shad, bluegill, frogs) don't vibrate. Most of the time they are drifting with the current or crawling/swimming/hopping slowly.

One of my good friends (RIP Calvin) is the inventor of those. Got my hands on a few a couple years back in highschool, neat concept but felt myself not pushing the button, rather fishin it like a normal rod.

I think they work good for throwing into a bed and letting the bait sit for a moment then hitting the button to vibrate. They will hit it like a freight train. LOL I have never seen any other time that it makes a difference. I had one 4 or 5 years back, I don't use them any more nor do I do the bed fishing thing either. The rod I had was poorly build.

I wasn't going to comment, but just had to after reading a couple of the post. Vibration = movement movement by crawfish, worms, bluegill is what you just described. it is not a "specific" movement but something that creates a disturbance in the water. not a bad idea, goes right along with ribbed worms and rattles in a trap or on a jig. when was the last time you saw a black n blue crawfish with 2 black boxes full of rattles strapped to it's back........Strike King guys hadn't seen one either, but they sure put rattles on their jigs.

I don't see how it'd work when you have 100' of line out.......JMO... you never played with 2 soup cans connected together with 100ft of string like they were a telephone ? you can certainly fell the vibration in one of those contraptions. Again, maybe it works & maybe it doesn't. I want to see a reel manufacturer come out with a battery powered reel that will launch a lure for a prescribed distance without a backlash, then retrieve the lure or fish on with the push of a button. Just so disabled folks could use them to cast & retrieve. I'm thinking more for disabled vets, but any disability. Now that would be a "GOOD" gimmick.
