Looking to go there Monday and never been. Seems like I heard you have to get a permit somewhere away from the lake before fishing. Any info on this, ramp info or fishing info would be appreciated. Going alone so would kind of like to know if it's a decent ramp with maybe a pier to tie up to for going solo.

Decent ramp, yes, you can tie up to dock. There are technically two ramps. Choose the one in the park on the south side near the dam. Can buy the boat pass at the restaurant there.

You won't be able to get the permit on Monday at The Java Joint (restaurant in the park) because it is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can pick up a permit at the Exxon at FM 273 and Amy Way which will be right on your way coming from Mckinney. $10 but it expires in April I believe, not good for a full calendar year.

Permits are good for one full year now! You buy now it expires April 2016.
