Probably a little late now for you, but I marked waypoints on my HDS unit while the lake was 7 foot low and marked backways into a lot of favorite areas including LFM. I just hope they are accurate or a Gator Hull is in my future.

With all the events lake fork marina host why is there not a marked lane that is visible on water? I know u can buy cards with guide lanes but I figured it would be nice to get some markers so us noobies can run in there and eat lunch or weigh fish for mega bass event Everyone seems to be telling you how to run it, not answering your question. As the awesome SRA email says there was no lane cut there originally. Back in the day it was a pretty straight forward run. Over the years the big marker trees have gone and the tree line to the south is not visible anymore and we are left with a bit of sphincter factor if you don't know the run. Not to change subjects but Little Caney is the one I always question. Would have been nice if there was wider clearly marked lane going back there.

I AGREE IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH FORK THE RUN FROM BOAT LANE TO LAKE FORK MARINA IS NERVE RACKING are there any stumps thru there? Ive ran that at full pool and 7' low and never had any issues I was heading in there a few years ago early summer when it was full. I was behind another boat that was on plane, and I have the lane chip so I have it marked. Well we were about 1/2 way in and i just got this feeling so I shut it down. Well we came to a stop and then I just idled the rest of the way. About another 50yrds from where we stopped there was a floater about 4'long and 4" diameter. Well Was just about to say that's what my "feeling" was for, and just as I hammered the gas before it got to move I shut it down again, and just as the waves dipped about 30' in front of me on the North side of the "lane" there was a 4" across stump that only showed when the waves went down at the right time. I say waves it wasn't windy that day, but with what wind there was and the wake off the boats it was enough to move the water around a little. So I still do not run that "lane." I'll go at a speed just enough to keep it on plane. Yes it might take me a few minutes longer to get out to the real lanes, but I do not have to worry about a fiberglass repair bill, or the fear of sinking the boat and losing my boat and all of my gear. Heck I have a lil 18' with 115hp so it takes me a little longer than the big boys to get across the lake anyways so another 2-3min is ok with me.

I don't see the big deal here. There are marked lanes to get you up and down the lake. Then it is a simple idle to get back into any creek or marina. Unless you are afraid to idle your boat over a stump..... then this ain't the lake for you. As for buying "boat lane" chips, I would say run them at your own risk.

this sums it all up. I fished with a guy once who went 20min out of his way cause he wouldn't idle through 50yards of stumps to get to a old tank dam. by idle I mean put it in gear and no extra gas. He was so worried his bass boat might rub on a stump, so he backed off the stump line edge we were on gave the stumps at least a 50' birth, and idled (just in gear) in open water around that area of stump so we could get to a spot that seriously was not 50 yards from where we started. I bet it took us close to 30min and 1/2mi of travel. This was not at Fork. I understand not wanting to go flying through a stump field or even at a speed just enough to keep the nose down, but to have a bass boat which is made to fish areas like that, and be afraid to put it within a mile of a stump or grass just puzzles me.

The faster you go the less boat in the water. Hammer down.
