Going through all the "fishing stuff" I've collected/bought/traded for over the years and while my basic gear such as rods, reels, hooks, sinkers and such are still in reasonably good shape (even though much is 10 to 15+ years old), I found some of the few dough and punch baits I bought last summer are now quite dried out and useless for their intended purpose. While I certainly don't mind buying fresh bait for this season, it occurred to me that the old stuff might still might be good for baiting out an area (I mainly channel cat fish anchored or tied up to a tree/stump) by cutting it up in chunks and suspending in cheese cloth bags over the side of the boat or even just throwing out some bits here and there when I get to a spot. I suppose I could just throw it away but since only the texture has changed and not the pungency, I'm just soliciting some thoughts on whether this might work or just be an exercise in futility. I mean, what the heck? Again, I'll buy new bait anyway but always hate to waste stuff if it's usable in some form or fashion. What say thee? Thanks Steve

CJ's sell an oil that will do what you want and add a little extra scent.
Snowflakes and entitled brats will be the doom of America!

Any kind of cooking oil will work. Steal a little Mazola from your wife, she probably won't even notice.
Just one more cast!

All the Mazola in the house is mine... wife doesn't cook much once you get past peanut butter, Nutella or M&M's. Although... she does bake cookies with the grandbrats when they spend some time with us. Thanks for the info all. I'll see what I can do with the egg and/or oil since I already have that on hand.

Bacon grease. It'll get stiffer when it cools and doesn't rot.
