I'm going to Bass Pro today over lunch and I wanted to get some opinions on a decent rod in the $80 range. I have several rods over $200 but don't feel like paying that much for one today. It will be paired with a Phluger 6.3 president reel. Thinking something in the medium action so I can use it for cranks.

If you can spend 20 dollars more I would go with the duckett ghost for $99. Great rod for 100 bucks. If you dont want to spend the extra 20 get a BPS rod . they are decent and can always exchange them if they break.

I have a Bionic Blade from Bass Pro and it works great for cranks and traps. I use the 7', MH, Fast Action and can throw anything from 1/2 oz traps to 8XDs. Hope this helps.

The Ghost or the BPS Carbonlite is the way to go. Both in the $99 range.

The Ghost or the BPS Carbonlite is the way to go. Both in the $99 range. I just cant get myself to spend 100 dollars on a rod with no guide inserts. It feels like cheating on Fuji.

please do yourself a favor and dont get any abu garcia rods or bps, there are far better rods for the price. temple fork outfitters older rods are $100 and perform out of the price range. they have the newer tactical versions that are $160 i believe and are amazing for the price tag. also shimano has a great selection of rods that are at that $100 price range as well.

Guys, he said he is looking in the $80 range, not really wanting to know what's $100 Then maybe he should change the title to "Rods under $80" or perhaps remove the word 'range' from his opening statement.

Try the new Berkley T-motions. Run around $80 and well worth it.

I would shop around here on TFF for a great used rod that would cost $$ if bought new.

I can tell you the BPS rods are junk. I have had two brand new ones break at the tip from setting hooks. It happened to me once and I thought, "oh maybe I accidentally stepped on it or something." Exchanged it again and exact same thing happened.
Just my opinion...
