I know there's got to be some out there. I've got 3-4 old spigot coolers (5-12gal) that I think would make great minnow buckets. They're well insulated, so they should work well. Wondering if anyone else has done a similar conversion.

Absolutely, that's all we use for minnow buckets. Probably have 5 of all different sizes in the shop (sorry no pics of them). The aerators from Academy for about $8, drill a hole in the side of the cooler, pull the hose through, re-attach stone, 2 "D" battery's, and your good to go. I do prefer the smaller coolers, the larger ones tend to get pretty heavy. During the heat of the summer I will freeze a bottle of water and put in there so the water stays cool and it will keep minnows all day.

It sure is cheaper and more fun to make your own so I hope you get a good bait cooler for your efforts! But, if you want the last bait cooler you'll ever buy get yourself an Engel cooler. They have them at Cabelas. Engel Cooler.

Yall keep em coming...I need to make one for shrimp for the few times I get to the coast,and for minnows around here.(and Cheap is Good)

Sorry I can't remember the member handle nor a more exact date for a search. Maybe some of the younger minds will remember more details.

I made a good one, kept minnows alive in my garage for months in the dead of winter, but don't have any pics. Maybe will go take one. Mounted a 500 gph live well recirc pump in the side of a cooler and wired to a cigarette plug. Plugged it in a 120VAC/12VDC converter when at home. Plumbed it up to a Marineland Bio-wheel fish tank filter, and switched the wheels with one of my existing wheels from a fishtank when I left them for awhile.
