Be done Thursday eve sometime. I have been calling bait stores looking for crab frozen or alive, but seems like bait is scarce. Any advice we would like some Crab, frozen or alive is there any place in town or on the water to check with?

Glad you asked this. We are headed down next Tuesday and I have been wondering about the bait situation.

Try the wholesale seafood companies & food markets down there in the AP/Rockport/CC area. Whole bunch of them from big corporate to mom & pop stores. Google and start calling 'cause don't know who would have crab this time of year. Usually we do calling of this type while on the road using speaker phone feature to be safe, kills some time driving.

Don't know if the wholesale markets will sell to individuals, they do to those with accounts and businesses. grin

I know this is too far away, but I was surprised to find frozen bait, including blue crabs at the Buc Ee's on I-45 just outside of Galveston. Might want to check and see if one of those places near you has a fishing / bait section too.

Let us all know how you did out there. Read a lot of post and it appear fishing has been pretty slow due to the rain and fresh water run off. We have a trip planned for the third week in April to Galveston and it appears from what I have been reading that bait is scarce there as well and fishing is slow.
Good luck!

We haven't had any luck. We fished off the pier at the house we are staying at and only caught trash fish. Fished the surf on the island twice with no luck. Sitting on the porch watching it rain now.
