I have an old 95 boat that's in rough shape. The gel coat on the top cap is shot.comes off in big flakes. Below the rubrail is ok. What would be the economical way to make this look better? Not looking to spend a top on a old boat... And don't really want to wrap it... Suggestions?

Sand it, spray with duratech, sand again, spray again with wax mixed in duratech. should not need to sand again. will not have flake but looks good. duratech is mixed with gelcoat 1 to 1.

Rub it down with lemon oil before you get on the lake. It will look new, last all day. Only pain is you have to do it every time you go out.

Those fish don't give a dam what your boat looks like. Take that old boat out and go to catching fish

Sounds like the boat has already been sprayed with automotive clear coat since it is flaking off. Might be a bigger job than you expect.

I think it has been sprayed.. But there is definitely so gel coat left up top. Can I just removed the damaged areas and respray or does it need to go down to fiberglass?
