Hey guys hope you are getting some rain. I bought some Gapen Bream floats per TNPondManager's advice. I wanted to try them out because the ones I use have a spring that connects to the line and I think it cuts the line. I have had a few bigger fish on and the line snapped at the float. I hope these will cure that problem. Here is a link to their site. I am not promoting their product I am just going to give a report and their effectiveness for better fishing. I will take pics when they come in the mail. http://www.gapen.com/Gapen_Bream_Float_p/float-bream.htm

At 3.35 each plus 4.50 shipping I doubt that they are that much better than Thill. Pretty pricy. I lose a float fairly often and it would pain me to see $.$$ floating away. I find the line usually breaks at the hook or split shot but not the float. Let us know how they work out.

I usually don't fish with a float. Mainly use small spinner baits and jigs. If I do use a float it is usually a Eagle Claw or a Thill. Those do look pretty good CK and should work pretty good.

Well to put it simply, you weight the rig so that the top half of the top balsa body is the only thing above the water line. The rest of the whole float is below the water line. If done correctly, it makes the float almost neutrally buoyant. The biggest draw back to waggler floats and rigging them waggler style is it takes a lot of small split shot pinched on a long length of line to be rigged correctly. Every point where those shot are pinched on are potentially a weak spot in the line. Not to mention they are more a specialist float because they perform excellent on calm, flat water but not much else. They also perform well when your presenting your jig/hook in 4' of water or below but not much shallower than that since you have to run all those shot.
This is just my experience and what I've learned from some of the guys who really use the waggler floats. I have a few in my tackle box and they are excellent when conditions allow, but they are very specialized and can be a bit of trouble to rig correctly even for an experienced angler.

Well that doesn't sound good at all. I was trying to eliminate line breaks. I thought there was a sleeve on the bottom of the float you pull down over the line. I will have to experiment. Thanks for the info.

i have used them before myself you must double the line on the pinch point though or they will slide on the line same as the spring types ..... and for sure they need to set low in the water to really work well i high float is a not ketchn many float fish don't like resistance when they take baits most of the time i don't take out my thills often i typically use the 3 for a 1.16 Styrofoam types it makes me terribly sad to see one of my Thills go by by at 1.69 each and at 3.50 each .....am not going to give the Gapen a chance to do it p.s. they sure are pretty
