people comparing old rangers to new other boats kills me. The old vx is not a c model Ranger . You got me laughing my rear off. Your comparing worst resale vs the Best. If Nitro makes you happy buy a Nitro They just in no way compare

Unless you have your mind made up on a Ranger or Nitro, I going to put a plug in for "Phoenix". Don't cost anything to look.

I have driven and rode in both boats as a non boater and as drivers. I am a die hard Nitro person so I would be bias with all the information I provide. Best advice anyone can give you is know what your budget is, know what purpose the boats is going to serve you, know what are your needs are versus your wants, and last but not least...test drive both. Do your own research, because in the end, the only opinion that counts is yours...cause you are the one paying for it.

I hear it alot more.... Why pay more? I applaud Nitro for being more sensible on their prices. No way I could buy a current year model Ranger. Bass Pro owns both Ranger and Nitro. ???..Sure, We all know that.... Nitro and Ranger are still 2 different companies though. Bass Pro is the majority stake holder, they have had no effect on Ranger prices before January 2015, And nothing has changed since then. Besides Ranger is not the only boat I am referring too with my statement... and my sponsorship with Bass Pro does not change the fact I currently cannot afford a current year model Ranger. Maybe one day I can be an elite Ranger owner that compares to no one.... one day.

Guys, thanks for all of the feedback. I wouldn't think I would ever own anything besides a Ranger but it really looks like Nitro has stepped up their game. I know resale will never be the same as Ranger but I'm looking for what I hope isn't my last boat but most likely will be. I like so many that seem to be choosing Nitro just can't get past the new Ranger cost. After all a 250 Pro XS is the same on a Ranger as Nitro so with that a Ranger boat along is really worth 15-20K more than a Nitro Boat? I just don't see it anymore. 10-12 years ago I wouldn't have considered a Nitro because of resale and quality issues but honestly I have spoken with multiple Nitro owners and just don't hear that from anyone anymore. Rangers have always been considered "the best" by many and have a cult following from owners, and I was one of them but it looks more and more like I have stopped drinking from the Ranger fountain. Still a Ranger owner today but looks like my days might be limited.

I own a nitro Z7 2013 and absolutely love it! i had basic upgrades installed like trim lever, tackle storage system, rod system, rhino liner keel, charger upgrade removable consol and graphs. even with all of that i still came way way under any other boat that size on the market. that b ing said the only complaints i have now are that I wouldn't have got white color scheme for inside boat and definitely would have went Z8 because id like bigger engine but other than that best boat for the money hands down! try stopping by Tracker Boating Center of Tyler they are really good and will definitely do everything they can to take care of you sales and service wise! great team down there.

Buy your new boat at a dealership that will stand behind you and your new boat!!! You can pay more or less, but you need a dealership that will stand with you if there is ever a problem with your boat. Test drive them all, make the time to do that. Yes I am bias, but the above statement isn't. Please talk with Monte and Jeff at Fun N Sun Boats and it won't cost you a thing to go on a demo ride. Hey, bring one the other brands with you and we can play, "follow the leader" and you be the judge. No joke! Oh, I am not bashing any boat brand. But GO SKEETER!!!

I love my Z9, 2013 and about 45 hours. We bought a nitro 482 in 2006 as a first boat and was so impressed I upgraded to a Z9. Seems to be a great boat with no concerns. I am sure there are better boats but I have not been given a reason to look at another brand.

Its midnight right now and I am not going to miss out on this topic. I have owned Champion,Ranger, Skeeter, and Stealth boats. I almost purchased a Nitro but chose to go with Ranger instead. I have to admit that the Skeeter I had was the best boat hands down. Though Ranger is a quality made boat it is overated and way to expensive. At the rate boat prices are increasing,Ranger boats will price themselves out of the market in the future,in my opinion. If I were going to purchase a boat in the future in would be a Nitro, they really know what a fisherman wants in a boat. Just had to put my 2 cents in on this subject.

You cant compare a Nitro to A Ranger . Earth vs Mars True one has huge decks a good rough water ride and comparable speed to other boats in it's class.

i own a 2005 nitro nx882 and its amazing, no complaints. as far as seats and carpet carpet is like new, and the middle seat has some wear to it due to people stepping on it as the step is way dangerous for older people to step to. the newer nitros have the steps in between the seats and it works way better, never had a ranger. honestly your paying for the name. nitro offers all the same except the fancy trailor design, but have you ever caught bass from the trailor?
