The lake is up quite a bit. We're only 2.5 feet low and and the water is still coming in. Since we bought our place in December 2012 this is the highest the lake has been. Water has never touched our retaining wall since we moved in. It was about 2 foot away when we left yesterday. I think the amount the lake rose last night should have done it.

This photo you should be able to see the alleged full lake water line on the retaining wall just below the sidewalk. I'll believe it when i see it.

What's been interesting to watch lately is how much the water level rises 1-3 days after just an inch of rain. It hasn't always been like this - when the lake is down 6', usually 1" of rain would only raise the lake a few inches on that one day. What I think is happening now is all the feeder creeks are finally meeting the lake. When the pool level is below 317' the mouths of many creeks are dry; most of the rain falling upstream won't reach the lake. When pool level pushes through that level, the mouths of the creeks are wet again and the lake receives the full benefit of whatever rain falls in the watershed. That's why it has been so hard to break out of the really low levels over the past few years. But now that we're breaking through the threshold at this point in the year, the lake could maintain a more consistent and higher level through the summer [knocks on wood].

I should also add the really low levels are during drought, when any rain gets soaked up in whatever soil it falls on. That only makes things harder. Fortunately for the past few weeks the ground has been waterlogged - hopefully it remains somewhat moist for the rest of the spring.

I never found any fish Saturday at CC that wanted to bite, so I turned to my next favorite hobby when the lake is rising quickly---retrieving floating debris. Saturday's haul was a wooden rocking chair, a knee board, two planks and a boat bumper. The two gulls riding the chair were pretty upset.

What we really need is water in the metroplex so they won't pump it all up here for eagle Mountain.
Article in the paper the other day said they had pumped an equivalent of an complete Eagle Mountain in
the last year and a half and we are still down 10 1/2 ft. The 8ft. pipeline runs nearly all the time in varing
amounts. The only place all the growth around cabellas and alliance airport can get water is from Eagle Mountain.

Cedar Creek looks to have lucked out over the others. It could be just 1ft low, maybe less, by the time it's done filling up this week

I'm pretty much obsessed with watching the water level rise. I check the http://cedarcreek-tx.lakesonline.com/Level.asp site every hour around :15 after for the update.

GoBears870: It does look like CCL lucked out. I take some credit since i've been planning to stain the dock. That's been delayed a few times now due to weather. I'll plan on doing it again in a couple weeks and see if I can get some more rainfall. I was just looking at Richland Chambers and they have only come up a foot since new year with all of this rain. They are so close to CCL, it seems like they would have similar rainfall. I guess the watershed may be more to the west but still all that rain yesterday was passing over from south to north. Seems like RC would have had a more significant spike.

I'll be out on Friday, will post some pictures.

If there are any CCL locals reading, would love to see what the lake looks like at your location...

My wife has started to worry about how much I check the USGS graphs. She's worried our bedroom window will start to look like Russell Crow's dorm window in A Beautiful Mind
