I got some dead red spray today and have a question about chicken breast. Do you spray and soak overnight or just spray and fish? I also had a question as to why chicken breast? Would it work just as well on thighs? I guess I will ask one more question, does anyone use it on cut bait such as buffalo?

I have used it in dead red soaked overnight in fridge . But to me it's been my least productive bait. Shad first, buffalo second , third perch , fourth dead minnows sprayed with dead red, fifth night crawlers , sixth punch bait

Just plain chicken breast works great as well even tho i prefer fishing with shad whenever i can find them if not it's chicken breast . Been doing pretty great catching them . Good friend of mine caught 61#blue on chicken breast awhile back.

Thanks for the feedback. I also prefer shad but I dont always have it. Lewisvillan that clam juice injecting method sounds brilliant, especially on lakes that have a lot of muscles in them. I have some menhaden oil I use when I am making chum for Port A trips that I think I will try that as well.

Chicken does work, I caught a 36# using it. Breasts seem to stay on the hook better than thighs. I've soaked it in dead red over night and just sprayed it on before casting, both seemed to work the same.

We have used the skin. Works real well, mostly C-cats. Makes sense the meat would as well. Skin stays on forever. Seems like, once you catch on a certain hook. That hooks always has one.

Does the freshness of chicken breast matter much? Would be nice to have a use for chicken that's been in the freezer too long for human consumption.

I think the fresher the better. The more slimey, nasty, raw chicken juice the better. If it is dried out with freezer burn I wouldn't waste my time with it.

Blues. You can catch channels on almost any premade bait from the store if you can find the fish.
