I just bought a spool of Invisx and a $60 2oz. swimbait. What knot would you tie and do you think 20lb Invisx will be get the job done?

I've been advised that 20-25# mono is better than flouro for big swimbaits, will prevent cast-offs from weak knot strenth that you'll get using flouro.

I used Trilene 100% for 3-4 years and really liked the way it performed. Got tired of throwing away 20-40 yards every time on the filler spools so I ordered a 2,000 yd spool. That took me 2 years to use up so next time I switched to Invisix which I also like and it comes on a 1,000 yd spool which solved the shelf life problem. I get mine from tackle warehouse when they run their sale and get both 15# and 20# for about $80. I think the Invisix has a little less memory than the Trilene.

I dont think flouro is worth the hype. It can be very difficult to deal with and knot strenth is aweful. I suggest using a copolymer first that has a flouro coating. Big baits are going to make any line sink but they have a copolymer that performs like flouro in the sinking aspect. Flouro also stretches more than they claim. The only way to eliminate stretch is go with a braid. I just dont see any benefit to justify the added cost of flourocarbon line. Just my opinion on my experience with it.

If there was no such thing as monofilament and I invented it today I would be wealthy. It would be greatest fishing line ever. Soft, supple, not brittle, very good knot strength, does not "jump off the spool", right amount of stretch, limited visibility, relatively inexpensive.....best of most worlds. Still is!

I agree. I admit I fell into the flouro trap but I am back on track.

Sunline Shooter

This line is absolutely amazing. I love this line because it is very limp and easy to work with, not to mention, it's strong.

You hit the nail squarely on the head. Between my fishing partner and myself we have tried most of the Flouro's out there and have found them to be lacking. Rather have a good copoly such as Pline or mono such as Big Game. As to the comment about 100% of the pros using flouro, I would submit that they'd smear monkey poo on their hooks if their sponsors were pushing it. What the "Pros" use is simply a marketing tool. If all offers were equal do ya reckon KVD would be running a Nitro?

Flourocarbon sucks. Nuff said.

I can't hardly break off if I'm hung up using 15 and 20 lb InvisX... A "neat" knot is crucial. Improved clinch.

I agree. The stuff is really strong. I think the guys that don't like it have trouble tying a good, clean knot. Improved clinch is good. So is a "Seagaur" knot.

Maybe we found out the hard way florocarbon just sucks. Big game rules I won't waste another dime on florocarbon. Just my 2 cents.
Just hype

Several have asked me where you can get Silver Thread AN-40, sometimes BPS has it , but I order it on line and I get the 3000 yard spools at a GOOD Price
