Not a surprising report, but I went out there this morning just to see what would happen off the bank in 8' or less of water in the coves on the North side of the lake. Fished chart jigs 18-24 inches under a bobber, and also did some vertical jigging deeper. No bite. I'm sure the past 10 days of ice/snow will set the D/FW area back a couple more weeks at least, but had to get out there and get a line wet.

I don't have a lot of history on the lake, but last year, they started up in March.

Yep, and with the past 10 days of Mother Nature literally plopping ice cubes into D/FW lakes, I expect temps. to take a little longer to rise.

With all of this cold weather we have been having I got a feeling it will be Mid March here in the San Antonio area for the fish to be moving into shallow water and late March or even early April for you guys up north. Just my two cents. 2cents

Lake temps are in the 40s. I honestly would say it'll be well in to April before they start spawning.

By the middle to the end of the month they will be shallow. Peak month is April and early may.

Caught four keepers and several dinks at the docks this after noon on my way home from work. Lake is noticeably up, and a little stained, or more than normal. They are still just off bottom, about 12' where I was fishing. I have my 'go to' spots that are still producing, but I'm starting to catch them on warm weather spots.

Nice Kenny!

GV is always a late spawning lake. April/May
It's on.

That being said I found some fat females in 2 feet of water today on another lake. It will be on next weekend!

Was out today at GV myself. Nothing shallow either. We caught more dinks then keepers. I think about 4 keepers all together. We were catching them off the bottom about 20-30 ft deep. But the dinks made the fishing fun. Beautiful day to get some fishing in!

Last year was about the same, Ketchn. I remember hustling the docks only scratching out a couple of fish. I headed to the parking lot to hear they were limiting out on the banks. One of these days me and the fish are gonna be in the same place

even if the water is low I bet they go back up as far as they can in them coves
and Marshall creek as well ,with a high likely hood of several other areas as well
but it seemed to me they were up shallow in mid april back in the day up there

That old Marshall Creek concrete bridge is now on dry land but I remember back during the great floods wading out to the bridge with my calcutta and a fish basket. Many a time put so many fish in the basket I could barely carry it back up the hill. I sure would like to see the water come up to where I could get the lil Bass Tracker back up in there. Standing in the water on top of the bridge bare footed with big ol gar swimmin around my toes, minners nibbling on my leg hairs. Water was warm enough to stand in it bare footed so it must have been April/May.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
