As cold and miserable as its been, I came home with a sore arm today. I have heard both sides of the "cold water spawn" debate but I have to side with "when they need to lay eggs, they move up"! I thought I would never say these words, but i had 20 lbs easy today. Caught fish all day long mixed with all sizes up to a big 5. I'll be there again tomorrow just to make sure it wasn't a miracle. Great Day!!!

I wore em out from the bank, one day without moving more than 20-30 feet from where I started. All of my fish were smallies though. Three were over 3lbs and I missed two about the same. The rest were 1-1.5 lb bucks.

Rattle trapping points with shad on them picked off a ton of smaller fish, big fish came cranking the banks. Lots of bait moving around sun was warming things up fish went on a huge feed. Bet things where different today.

Toady was definitely different. Sun must have been what turned them on yesterday. Still managed 6-7, best 5 was about 13lbs. Small and large mix. I'm telling how I caught them because everyone else is fishing the same pattern. Throwing small shad and craw cranks (XD3) setting in 10-15 ft, throwing to the bank bringing it back. Hope the pattern will hold up for Saturday. See you all there.

What you are describing is pre-spawn...with water in the low 50s, it sounds like they are moving up and feeding. Spawn would mean they are on their beds.
