A cold and nasty March makes it hard to get excited about fishing and really the only fishing I'm excited about is April and May. When you think about it, this nasty winter has put some much needed water back in the lake. It's not a lot of water but as long as the lake isn't going down.

One of the many big problems with the lake being drawn down so low is the big old trees that have been under water for years. Now they are poking up everywhere, plus they are solid as rocks and will destroy your boat if you hit one. So stay alert and keep an eye out when on the water for trees, new islands and sandbars.

I'm using the ramp at Oak Cove and it's a struggle with my large boat, but it works to get me and my clients on the water.

All days aren't cold and rainy, and on the sunny days my customers start thinking about fishing, which leads them to call and schedule a fishing trip for the spring.

It's a particularly fun time of the year for me because it allows me to reconnect with all my old customers, tell a few fishing stories and plan a trip.

My calendar is booking up pretty solidly for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
I'm booking my second boat with James Reed as guide and my partner Chris Watson in his 25 foot tram, so we have availability on the weekends and plenty availability during the week.

I'd like to invite you to fish with us. To do so, you can call, email, or text me as soon as possible and be prepared to catch a lot of fish!

Thanks!

Bob Holmes has been guiding on Richland Chambers for 20 years, longer than any other guide on the lake, and is still the striper Record Holder! He's been fishing on RC since 1988.
