 Mercury Optimax gets revved up

Have a 2009 150 Optimax that will rev up about 200 more rpm when I shift to neutral every once in a while. Hot Foot cable was adjusted, but it still happens on occasion. Can turn it off and restart and it will be fine for awhile. Any thoughts?

I would thing that would be pretty normal, 200 rpm drop when put in gear.

Normally, it would be at about 600 rpm, but, sometimes, when I shift back to neutral, it will be around 800rpm. If I shut off the engine,then restart, it will go back to the normal 600.

150 optimax is a computer controlled Fuel Injection engine. The idle is set and controlled by the on board computer.Usually the computer will need to be scanned. The optimax is a very complex engine with many things that can cause an erratic idle. Mercury authorized dealer will be able to assist.
