I’m looking to get out and fish some Hill Country rivers this weekend. It has been a couple years since I've fished this region and was hoping for a couple suggestions. I know that the drought and current cold weather will have an impact on where I should go.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

You might try asking on the bluegill/sunfish thread. Banker-Always and all that group of guys fish the Guadalupe, Comal and other places close to that area. They have a good handle on what is going on in the Hill Country.

I agree with 2FlyFish4. Guadalupe for trout is probably the best option.

Agree that it is early for warmwater species but great time for Guad trout. I was there a couple of weeks ago and the fish were a challenge (too bright and sunny), but fun to catch. Still a few weeks away from good warmwater fishing.

You guys almost have me convinced to try the Guad for trout. Too bad I don't know much about trout fishing, but the smallmouth option sounds interesting. Is it safe to assume I need to haul my kayak along?
