Just turned 13 years for me. Met a lot of great people on here and swapped a ton of information for sure back in the day. I am not on here near as much any more because there does not seem to be as much information shared...and I am as guilty of that as others. I think I'll return for a little while and see how things develop...as I don't mind sharing info at all.

When I first got on TFF, Ernest was a young manwoot and Chuck Rollins and I fished together before he started his guide business. I have learned more from reading posts and fishing with people on this forum than I could have learned in my lifetime.

I think TFF is extremely valuable and continue to learn daily. Glad a friend told me about the site.

Been here 11+ years and still love to read the crappie fishing forum. Like Mr. Paty, I believe technology has changed so much since I joined, that the "help" most people need is dependent on what their pocketbook affords. There are always "early adopters" of technology, and those are the ones who profit the most from it up to a point of mass distribution.

I live in a serious world, so the banter back and forth is entertaining to me. If it happens to include a nugget of information, so much the better. I believe the best information is gained through experience on the water. If I am to depend only on the information gained here, I may as well play a video game....

What's up Brother?

7 years for me and I don't post very much at all now, not like I used too. I learned a lot in the Crappie forum the first 3 or 4 years though.. I miss Guy and Ernest going back and forth trying to convince us who knew more about crappie fishing. I learned the most from those post.

Why not?

Probably because there used to be some really good discussions about actually catching crappie. Now it's mostly inane banter. Not that there's anything wrong with that in certain forums like the OT but it says Crappie Fishing and not BS Fishing which is what's different now.

I've been here since 01 and I agree with Guy.
Coach JC pretty well sums up the reason why I feel this way.
My participation and even reading here took a big nose dive because of all the BS and having to wade through so much of it to get to any meaningful information.

Maybe the Crappie section needs it's own sub-forum for inane banter?

I think a little BS is fine - none at all could make for a pretty dry and boring place I would think.
But good grief, way too much of it can get real tiring in a hurry.

Believe me I lke to BS as much as anyone, but even i get sick of having to wade through thread after thread to get to anything meaningful. No BS is boring to which is why I like the bass section! I do find way more useful things in the bass section. I've ordered some stuff and have tried some new techniques after having read some things on there. I bet I haven't picked up anything new here in months or longer.

Maybe there just isn't that many different ways to catch a crappie I don't know. I like reading and seeing new baits and equipment for sure, but then it becomes a contest to see who can kiss the most butt and it begins to lose its value IMHO and mine alone.

+1
Things took a big nose dive for me when it turned into a personal popularity contest.

Thanks for introducing me to the forum when you did, I got a little taste of the good life before it all went away.. I used to check this thing daily and make multiple post daily also.. I have met some great people from this forum, and have learned loads of information about the sport of crappie fishing. Don't get me wrong there are still some good posters on here but they are far and in between IMO.
