I stand to fish from a Hobie PA 12. I have lower back issues so sitting to long tends to start hurting after a while. Probably stand 80% of the time either floating or tide to something.

My Native Ultimate is supposed to be a good kayak for standing, but I've never stood in it.

I rarely stand, the conditions just have to be just right for it and they don't happen that much. Having said that I love to be able to stand, stretch my legs, water the lake, etc.

As y'all know I just sold two kayaks, the number one question I got was "can you stand out of it". I personally think standing is way overrated unless you are talking about those perfect conditions or fishing approaches. Which is strange considering I wouldn't allow seats in any of my bass boats.

I can stand in both of my kayaks, but I rarely do. And when I do, it's always to stretch out a little and get a little blood flowing.

I see people posting about standing ALL the time, but I almost never see kayakers standing. I too, believe it is vastly overrated.

I like to stand and fish but its only about 10 - 20% of time. I also fish mostly small water so if I'm sitting sometimes its hard to fish underwater structure cause you can't see it until you've drifted right on top of it. Could I live without it? Yes. But if given the choice, I'd choose a ride I could stand in.

I stand probably 50% of the time but I am river fishing 90% of the time. Even tho I prefer to stand probably more than most i am typically turned off by kayaks specifically designed for it. I'd rather have a hard time standing in a kayak that paddles well.

Never stand, but I spent a weekend fishing in a canoe with my little nephew recently, and I stood almost the entire time (he was in the very front and I was in the very back).

Gotta say, I really enjoyed it.

Probably look into SUP fishing in the future. Different type of workout, and I enjoy just paddling around while firing something like a square bill.

In my opinion it's because most people want a stable kayak, and the ones that you can stand in are going to be the most stable, so it's just knowing that you can. It still takes practice unless you are extremely agile.

I stand less than 1% of the time in my yak, and it's closer to the 0% than the 1%.

On an aside, this thread has been helpful to me. When I bought my Cuda, I was happy to know I was moving from a yak I couldn't stand in (one I loved for its speed, but that wasn't "standable") to one I could. Then, I was struck by how little I did it. I really thought people stood more than y'all are reporting because it's the narrative I hear - I mostly fish alone and remote, so I don't see a lot of yak-fisherman). I knew I was catching fish sitting, but I have wondered from time to time what I'm missing...

I wish I could. I have excellent balance but I have a cheap pelican and it's no Ocean Kayak. I'll be upgrading to a scrambler eventually

I stand about 25% of the time. I like to approach a grass line and stand to cast to it. Also helps that I can back out of the wind with the reverse of the Slayer too.
