We moved my sister from Lubbock to Austin in the snow and ice yesterday. It took us over ten hours to get here. We brought the boat along so we could do some fishing, but as everyone knows, the weather stinks. Do we A: fish lake Austin in the cold rain for the next few days? Or B: drive five more hours to falcon for some warmer temps? Are they spawning yet on either lake? I've never fished these lakes and know nothing about them other than what I read on the forum. Seems like we would have a better chance at catching more fish at Falcon.

Not spawning in Lake Austin yet. Bite has been TOUGH on Austin this winter. I am not fishing it much and I live 15 minutes from the ramp (insert sad trombone).

Falcon! I would make the the drive way more often if I was several hours closer like you are in Austin. Some warm days for Zapata for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday this week before next big front. Swing by Falcon Lake Tackle & get real time up to date info on where to start from people that really fish. Have a good time!

Since the grass been eradicated from Austin the winter bite has been slow. I'd got to Falcon and hit Austin when things warm up more.

Smart decision. Austin sucks, thanks to our friends at Texas Parks & Wildlife Department.

I was at Falcon last weekend, it was slow but pitching hardwoods in Mexico will get you some fish.

Its hard to develop a pattern on Falcon all the way down the Lake right now, but you could get into a 100 yard stretch on Falcon right now loaded up with pre-spawners that could be life changing for you!

we cut our trip short a day to falcon. Water looks amazing, but the surface temps have dropped nearly 20 degrees in since last weeks sunny days. even with the forecast, its gonna take a couple days before the temps get back up. 56 was the highest reported temps across the lake saturday
