Nice video, really enjoyed it. Hey man, I got a tip. Take some drift wood around you and put it on the shore line where you are standing. Helps keep you from sinking in. Seems like the more you stand in a place and move around just a little, the wetter it gets. Put some sticks down to build a little mat to stand on and you wont sink. I've had to do this on a couple of places this year. Works like a champ and keeps your feet dry.
Glad to see you guys caught some good fish. Im surprised at this point that anyone is even catching fish. This cold weather should shut the bite down. But it sure didnt shut you guys down, congrats

This is weird, I had heard about a couple of guys who caught 44 whites at Newmans before I read this post. Boy news travels fast. LOL And now I know who they were.

Hey fishytx, I appreciate the advice. Yeah we were struggling on that muddy bank. Definitely going to try the sticks next time. I'm with ya, I can't believe the bite is still on like it is. Especially with this high pressure the last couple days. I'll keep at'em while they're biting though. This is my favorite kind of fishing. It's like our Texas version of an Alaskan Salmon run. And glad you liked the video! Thanks for checking it out!

The water is really cold. I can't believe they are still biting. It is defiantly out of the norm. The last fish I pulled out one day last week were somewhat strange, after setting the hook; the fish would come to the surface floundering on top as I reeled them in. It wasnt the normally pull side ways, go upstream, downstream, back and forth thing till the very end. Really weird. I figured they were so cold; they had very little energy to fight back. To me, this was boring. I prefer the horse-shoe bend in my pole, drag singing and me doing everything I can with this light tackle to get them in. But as the water warms back up, the fight will continue to get better. We still have four more weeks in this years spawn to go.

Went out to irwins bridge yesterday morning with a buddy, came home with 43 whitebasss. 9 females 34 males all fish were good sized only a handful under 12 inches. Siver grubs and red/white grubs seemed to work the best. All fish caught reeling really slow on the bottom.

Really didnt think about it Jamie. I've had to do this in a few spots this year and when I saw the video of them slopping in the mud, it came to me and I thought I would mention it. Bottom line is its called common sense. Good fishing spot, must get feet wet in order to fish the spot, a standing mat is required for present use and future use as well. Just keeping my feet dry is all. I only do it on good fishing holes. So if you see a bunch of small limbs at the edge of the shore line as a standing mat, you know its a good spot and worth the climb down the embankment. LOL

Wow, it is beginning to sound like yesterday morning there was a good bite to be had. I may have to change my schedule to fishing in the mornings for a few days.

No one has mentioned this yet, so thought I would ask. Are the fish being caught in the deeper water, like eight feet or better. And is there current in these areas, or are they staging in the more calm waters?

Did anyone catch many today? I fished this afternoon for about 3 hours with my son. We managed just one fish (he caught it) on a minnow.

My daughter and I hit Erwin Bridge today. Arrived at 2:30 and left at 5. Ended up with 15 whites. All fish caught on 1/8 Rooster tails fished slow to the bottom in deep holes... It was a cold and good afternoon of fishing..

All my fish have come from deeper waters with a slight current. I think its needed to get that bait to roll on the bottom. With the water clarity right now, if it looked any less than 4-5 fow I moved to the next hole. There has been a decent bite after dark as well. The holes just below the brigde are still holding fish, mostly smaller males, but I did pull a 15" female out Sat evening. The bite friday evening got better after dark as well, targeting deeper holes with little to no artificial light.

If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
