Thanks for the pics Steve. I like it back up there. This time of the year you do not see very many anglers back there. As the crowds build during the warmer weather, I will be going back there myself. Nice and peaceful. I have caught some of my better crappie back there aa well.

Not sure if I'm reading your post right, but there is a 25 fish limit per person per day. Just saying, don't ever keep more, or it's like a $200.00 fine for each fish over and each small fish. Not even worth the risk. They check people pretty oftin. Just a heads up is all......

Pulled a dozen more out this evening. Water is lower and really clear. Mostly males, only a couple fat females. Wanted to fish before this supposed rain this weekend
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

Gray and white worked for me. Sounds like they are looking for a more natural shad color in the clear water. Do you still have any luck with chartreuse in these conditions?

They will hit just about anything that moves if it is presented correctly. Over the years I have found that they like small baits in a more natural color when the water is this clear. Artificial baits are what they are, fake imitation of prey. Or thats how it should be presented for the best results any ways. I wish I had opened up a few stomachs in the last fish I caught, that way I can see what they are forging on. I meant to do this, I simple forgot is all. But this method sure does work. They call this process, match the hatch. You look to see what has been on their menu, and you tie on something that resembles that and fish with it. It will normally get you bit pretty quick and much more often. If the water was just a tad bit more stained right now, more fish could be caught. You really do have to sneak up on them right now, because they can see every move that is made on the shore line. They are also holding in the darker colored water, which means deeper water. I keep talking about this and I will end up driving myself crazy enough to drive over there and try to catch a few. Darn whites bass fever. It doesnt take much to get me in the mood for this challenge. It is getting a little harder to catch these guys with the water so clear. Free line some minnows should be the key for some really fast action.

We hit Newman's again this morning. A buddy and I pulled out 44 by 1pm, 12 of which were females. The bite was real good at day break. Caught all 44 between three different holes. All were caught on white roostertail, white road runner, and chartreuse and white shadpole with pink head. Work it slower than slow in the deepest water you can find.
