Anyone have any experience on Lake Murray or staying at the lodge there? Would a hotel in Ardmore be a better bet?
Looking for a place to take my mom and dad (mid 70's), my sister and my niece for a few days (late March). I'm sure we would take the boat out, but not real fishing enthusiasts (except myself). More just looking for relaxing fun family time.
Any other good ideas within 2 hours or so of Dallas? I appreciate hearing your opinions and suggestions.

I think Murray would be a great place to take them. I drove thru about 2 week's ago -- I have not stayed there in many years but the place looked ok. They have a ton of cabin's right at the park 10 to 20 units -- They are rented out by someone not the park. They had 6 or 8 cabin's on the water which look's like fun maybe pull the boat up to the cabin .The lodge look's well used but not bad. I would give this palace a try and will this summer.
Hope this help

I love Murray. The lodge is very plain, restaurant food is pretty good. Havent stayed in a cabin. I just read last week it is rated the most popular lake in Oklahoma. I live on Texoma and before this flood you couldnt beat the amenities. Back to Murray. Smallmouth!! And lots of them. I wont give you and hints but there are a lot of rocky points on this clear water lake. Some of those points drop off into deep water. Smallmouth like these lures that look like a cajuns favorite food and the end in "trap". You will not regret going there.
