I had found 3 pattens that were producing good unders, had a place to stay at the lake and travel wasn't an issue and think we had a chance to do well, and 100% agree with the call Bass Chanps made.
The comparison of thunderstorms to a likely ice event are like comparing apples to oranges. When you have people traveling from as far as 250+ miles, it's importsnt to look after the safety of all of those traveling.

Who the hell wants to put on ten lbs of clothes, slick icy roads to travel, slippery, icy boat ramp at 5 in the morning , boats and vehicles slamming into one another, guys cussing each other and the weather at every turn !!! Not being able to feel your feet,face or hands after running 100 yards; much less 5 miles! To catch a green fish that you probably will have to release anyway!!! Yea July!! Shorts-flip/flops and Columbia short sleeves!! Plus you'll actually be able to feel a fish BITE!!! Great Call ! 👍 But that's just me!!

Why not wait til 9 tomo like was originally announced and see what the weather does... weathermen seem to be wrong about their forecasts at least 50% of the time it seems. Canceling thurs afternoon is pre-mature IMO

I have been catchin slawnch dawnkeys every week in the cold weather, I was ready to fish! I applaud Champs for making this call. You simply cannot have guys trying to drive lengthy trips in icy conditions, regardless. I also applaud them for going ahead calling it tonight. Will prevent some guys from making a long drive tonight or tomorrow to head this way and then have the tournament called tomorrow night if bad weather begins or it will be dangerous come launch time.
Nice job guys, a good, level headed and classy decision.

XPrezident makes a good point though. Why not wait to make the call tomorrow morning? They shaved 16-17 hours of weather movement off their decision. A lot can happen overnight, in Texas, in February...

ya dangit! I took tomorrow off too!!! Which is sweet! Now I can sleep in, stay warm, watch fishin shows and be tankful we aren't out there on Saturday feeling miserable! Come on July!!!

Had to be a tough decision. Kinda screwed either way. Call it early based on weatherman, and folks have a chance to cancel reservations and get their money back before they start making their way here. Wait until Friday morning at 9 and the weather may turn out good, but if not, folks are kinda stuck. Glad it asn't me making the decision.
We're here anyways. Will be at LFM Friday night.

This one would have set the pace for the rest of the year just like the first one on Roberts last year did. Who can catch them in the worse conditions is why we compete. We can all catch them good when its sunny and warm and the pressure is under 30. It got cancelled it happens. I hope no one is fishing the bass weekend series because July 11th is day one of the two day on Palestine. March 21st looks good. No big tournament's set and only a small media tourney on fork.....

Chill huh? You need to worry about your own opinions and keep em' in check and not worry about me. I wasn't "blasting" champs. All I was saying is that, why didn't they do what they said they was going to do? BTW If you kept reading the same sentence I STATED that the decision doesn't affect me But I feel for the guys that a premature decision has on them, thinking about others is called being selfless. I have to follow the rules and rulings that champs makes just like everyone else and I will abide by this ruling as well. Would I rather fish in July than February? Heck yea 10 out of 10 times. just wondering why they didn't abide by their own initial decision to make a ruling Friday at 9am.

Doesn't matter, it's their call entirely and it's the right one whether it's made now or later. In these instances making the decision as quick as possible helps those with travel plans and minimizes issues for everyone. I'm sure they looked at the big picture and realized that waiting until Friday to ultimately cancel wasn't the best option. On to the next thread...
