Hey guys simple question here. Will the Lowrance elite 5 HDI unit work thru hull? I'm actually putting it on a hobie kayak which is already Lowrance ready with only a plastic plate that the transducer would have to read through. Thoughts?

Yes, if installed properly you don't need a puck to shoot through that, but you can exchange. Won't pick up temp, though! hobie Forum question

Yes, if installed properly you don't need a puck to shoot through that, but you can exchange. Won't pick up temp, though! hobie Forum question it's interesting to me That it won't pick up temperature despite having water contact with the transducer.

I didn't see how the piece of it worked until I did the search. I was thinking about only a hole in the bottom of the hill with a plastic insert, not something below the surface like a shelf. If the plastic piece is open to the water, my statement is withdrawn. Installation wouldn't even require silicon.

How will it have water contact thru hull? Or is there just a special plate on bottom to mount to?
