If you stay in tiger fishing a beetle spin you don't have that problem. Its kind of ironic that the person that doesn't give anyone respect when they ask for a little advice is now complaining about not getting any respect. Funny how that works out. You're saying I don't give anyone respect when they ask for advice? Giving away information that I've spent countless hours on the water learning is called respect? Wow. Guess my interpretation of the word is a little different than yours. hey Yank, I think he meant to put a LOL on the end.

I started fishing again in 1995, and this stuff was prevalent back then. if you really want to see disrespect fish from a busterboat on a popular lake, its like you're not even there, heaven forbid you catch a fish near someone.

I see the guys fishing near the lanes on Fork. You go cruising by and they look at you like your crazy and inconsiderate. I am guessing they are crappie fishing.

I had 30 minutes left Sunday before I had to shut it down, I had one more spot on the way back in that I had time to hit. I start to get close and I see a boat and it looks like it is at "the" spot, so I turn in across the cove to burn the rest of my time and maybe get lucky, never even thought about getting close and possibly ruining anything he had going on. About 10 minutes later, I see a boat headed our way, he blows right in and comes off plane literally right beside him, driver pops up and drops trolling motor and the other angler just pops onto the back deck and start casting away. They exchanged words, I was not close enough to hear what was said, but the guy that was there first, picked up his trolling motor and left. The other guy flung crank baits on the short stretch for about 5 minutes and left too.
Strange times.

Most of it comes down to how you was raised and what you seen while growing up and learning. This may not always be the case but mostly it is there is always a few who are ignorant and just dont care.

If you fish lanes and Im one that does sometimes I dont expect anybody to slow down for me its expected when fishing in or near boat lanes.

Rude, crude, and absurd people on the waters nowadays, period. I am very fortunate that most of my fishing happens during the week. These guys in their fancy schmancy bass boats have not ever been taught fishing etiquette so can we really blame it on them? You bet your bippy! That's why I always carry a 2oz lead weight rigged at all times. I usually throw that at boats half the time I'm OTW.
Seriously, I usually just turn the other cheek and go on, unless I'm in a tourney. Then I get a little riled up and mouth off. I get over it pretty quickly, though.

It seems that a lot of folks just don't have a clue about how to respect a person's space on the water. Not asking a lot just give me 30' for so when I'm sitting still and casting at a piece of cover/structure. I've had some idiots look the other way and run their big motors straight over the exact spot I was pulling fish from....while I'm casting to that spot I guess if they don't look at you .... you're not there . Just sayin' we really out to respect one another on the water

Just about every one of the ones I've had blow by me won't even remotely look in my direction. That tells me right there they KNOW they are doing something wrong.

If you are expecting courtesy on the water while fishing,,,, do not come to Lake Athens during the spawn. Last year in a couple of the little spawning coves there were boats that just came right in on top of me to the point that you could almost step into their boat. No respect at all for the size of the fishing area or the distance to another boat. I -unfortunately- called them out here on the forum and instantly became the bad guy. Won't do that again. But seriously,,, this is one subject that is very touchy and there are many "different" opinions on it. YHRF,,just remember,,, the older you get, the easier it is to FORGET ABOUT IT.

Most recent "if I don't look at you, you're not there" was on a state park lake...idle speed only...just 3 boats on 600 acres of water. No excuse for that stuff. Maybe on a city lake in a confined area....but it won't take long to drop the trolling motor and move on by. Some folks will show you the courtesy, and I respect that, others just don't get it. Hats off to the old gent from Arlington in the green BassCat who shut down the big motor and asked, from about 30 yards away, what I was throwing and then used the trolling motor to move off before going on his way. That's respecting the other guys space.

We've all had that kind of stuff happen to us. It's hard for me to believe that a tournament fisherman who is fishing a shoreline on a busy weekend owns that water for a city block. Or that a guy who cruises within ten feet of your anchored position and never looks at you on a virtually deserted lake is for real. On the other hand a buddy and I were waved in close to another boat last week. This guy was catching fish after fish. He told us what to use and where to throw we fished for a couple of hours together. everyone catching fish. People will always be people. I've done some stupid things myself, Hope I always remember to react like the dude last week.
