Just curious...I recently bought me a hb 959 DI, and going to get a si unit for the console (currently have the 598 si, but too small). Was wanting to get the 1199, but to keep the wife from complaining so much, thinking of downgrading to the 999. Is the extra screen size worth the roughly $700 more? HB has the rebates going, so I would give up $100 in rebate (plan to use for a HS puck and ethernet adapter and cable)

I have both. Run a 998 on the bow and a 1199 on the console. Started with 998 and upgraded to the 1199 for larger screen. The thing i didnt like on the 998 is the depth, temp, speed or which ever information boxes you have on are on the left side of screen and that makes your screen smaller. I usually turn them off but the depth and that helps with screen size. The 1199 has them on the bottom of screen and the larger screen is a big plus. Didnt tell wife till it came in. Sometimes its better to ask for forgiveness than permission. But she likes to fish also, thats a big plus!!!

You will be kicking yourself within a week for not spending the extra $$ for the 1199. Don't ask how I know this.

I still have the 959 DI in the garage, waiting on a weekend day for her to work to install! I think I am going to go with the 1199. Problem is, I would like to get before the rebate ends. I am using it as a bargaining chip for saving her/us about $10K, putting in my own waterline and tree trimming for building a house. Plumber quoted $10/ft on the waterline (it's about 650 ft), and the builder wanted us to spend $3500 for a tree trimmer to trim so the trucks could get in.

I bought the 999 too, and have been out one time I am very pleased with the si screen, for 700 more for the 1199 (which I could not afford anyway) the picture is just fine for me.
