I am by no means any where close to either one of these qualifications just a thought. Would you want to travel the tour and have a shot at being the best of the best or just dominate other tournaments and fish on your own time?

I'd rather have a job that allowed a stable (and larger) paycheck and fish whenever I wanted to, for fun.

Tour fishing will stress out the best of bank accounts if you are lucky it only cost 6 grand to make 4

I would like to win the lottery and take my shot with the big boys, if nothing else I would get schooled and learn something for my time. Wouldn't want the pressure of having to make a living at it.

I would like to fish the opens - get to practice a few days before - scope stuff out - punch in some waypoints - no worries about work - just catchin fish. See what happens !!!!!!
Jesus first - then the rest will fall into place.

It takes more than just wanting to.. Take backing too.
A conservative number for fishing a year's worth of Opens is $100K.

I doubt I would leave the state. Places like Erie and lakes in the north east etc would be too much driving for me. I did my traveling in the military I'm done with that crud.

That's exactly what im doing. Well. Sort of. I'm not paying for the fishing, but I am using my personal vacation time to attend the tournaments. So, in that respect, I guess I am paying. I will not get my beach house time in with the wife and kids. And I will not get to go Jeepin this year in CO. And probably will not get my pheasant hunting time this year either. Haha. But, then again, if I win?! Haha. Could reset the table a little.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I think most local hammers always want to know if they can hang with the best in the world. Opens are not a good test of that either due to the unlimited practice. Until you pay the big entry & compete on 3 days practice you will never know. What's crazy is you more I travel & fish the worst I get around the house. I've seen guys dominate the opens & not do worth a flip on tour, & guys who just pay their way in do well. There is no true science when it comes to all the variables of fishing. In closing, it's a very hard way to make a living.

If I retire at an early enough age and have money to do it, sure... Otherwise, I will stick to work and fishing on the weekends. I sure cheer on the guys I know that are out there.

My lack of fishing talent dooms me to choose neither.
That being said I do want to eventually fish the Opens. Not just show up and say I fish the Opens but actually compete and give myself a chance to do well. Just got to keep working hard to get the skills to do so.
