islamarado fl,anyone fished this area,we will be there on may 25 for a week plan on getting a rental boat and also do do some kayak fishing ,so if you guys have any suggestions on bait, where to head out offshore and around flats or wrecks we can find fish going to try to catch tarpon bone fish tks for any info

I caught tarpon and barracuda in Islamorada within swimming distance of the Whale Harbor Marina. Nothing fancy. I just paddled out away from the boat traffic and fished on the bottom with live mullet. It's not hard getting them to bite. Getting them up to the side of the boat is a different matter!
