The weather can be bad on Tawakoni as anyone who's fished it knows. The wind was marginal at daylight and the teams hit the water starting about 5:45. The front which was predicted to hit about 11:30 arrived at 9:10. There was an immediate switch from west to north and white caps were up in about 1 minute. Unfortunately, Pat Martin and Dale Abercrombie got caught too close to the dam and a rope dragging a chain used to drift fish got tangled in the prop of the big motor and disabled it. Before they could get the troll motor going they were against the rocks and taking water over the stern. The boat sunk very quickly. There were about 6 other boats very close by who came to their aid quickly and got them out of harms way. Everyone is safe.
The cold front shut the bite down and I don't think any fish were caught after the wind switch. Most fish were caught 28-35 ft deep on minnows. Everyone had their share of blue cat, white bass and hybrids. George Nelon landed a 40 lb yellow cat Friday. Here's the top five in each division
