Thinking about making a trip to Austin for a couple of days. I've never been there so looking for recommendations on where to launch and more importantly any hotel recommendations where I park and charge my boat? Thanks

Do a search on here. This topic comes up pretty often. Also, the austin fishing forum is a good place for info

The best place to launch is on Capital of Texas Highway (loop 360) at the "penny-backer" bridge. They charge a small fee to launch. I go upstream to fish and always do well. Good luck

La Hacienda RV Park best bet. Rent a cabin there and charge the boat there.

Is Mary Quinlan Park still a free launch ramp? Not a bad little ramp, but need more parking. Somebody a while back said they were going to start charging to launch.

Quinlan is still free but on a good fishing day fills up fast. Also steep so can be hard for some.

LA fishing has been challenging at best this winter. Nothing like years past. As of yesterday water temps were54-57. Water is amazingly clear right now. Having to fish lighter lines. By the end of March it will be on. I fish it at least once a week pm as you get closer and I will provide some intel.

How has the fishing LA been recently? Sent you a PM for that intel you offered. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Went on March 12 and fishing was brutal to say the least. It was bad on all. There were boats running all up and down looking for bites. I think we ended with 3 rats all day. I have heard from other guys that the grass kill has caused a lot of problems. Water was 55-57 when we were there. Should be much warmer now but not sure about the bite. A good alternative would be Lady Bird. Not sure about numbers but I have seen pics of some quality fish.
