I am new to the Side Scan and just installed the LSS 1 and love it now i want a bigger unit HDS 10 or 8 will i need anything extra to go to the gen 2 HDS units with my LSS 1?
Also going to add a new unit to the trolling motor and thinking of going with the Elite 7 or changing to Garmin what do you think?

Don't understand Jamey. The LSS1 is a box you hook your transducer to and then connect the box to a gen 1 HDS to give you side scan. If you upgrade to a new HDS unit, it has the electroniocs that were in the LSS1 built into the new units and you don't need the LSS1. You will need a new LSS2 transducer. I have not seen the Garmin except what their literature and promo videos show. It is impressive and would definitely look strongly at it. Nobody probably understands GPS better than Garmin and I'm glad to see competitors getting into the fresh water electronics business. HB and Lowrance need some new competition!

When I bought a Gen 2 Touch 9 and used an lss 1 ducer but had to buy the adapter cable so that it would work. I have since bought an lss 2 ducer so I have an extra adapter cable if you need one.

So if i get the gen 2 touch i will not need the box but will need a crossover. Is that the same with the hds 8 and 10 gen 2? if so why the lss2 box? What i really need is a hds 10 or 8 gen 1 if you want to sale one let me know.

You guys sell me those lss1 transducers! I have one. It or the box is on the fritz. I'll send you the ducer if you'll pay the postage. You can check it. If it works all good for you. If it doesn't work, you'll be out the postage.

I broke mine this past weekend and am looking for a replacement.

How did you break yours? grout-scout Hit it on a stump and knocked it off. I don't have a jackplate on my boat so the transducer is mounted low on the transom. Transducer is still there but the plastic is broken. Looks like I'll be giving JB weld a shot as the LSS-1 transducers seem to be getting rather hard to locate.
