Road trip, he did fight as good as the big sandies we were catching. J-Moe we had him in the live well for about 5 hrs and checked the lake record on the way home. I'm sure he May have been 2 lbs but it is what it is. Her is a pic right after it was caught.

That is just huge. I used to catch 'em all the time at Twok when I was tightlining for cats, using worms. They (the yellow bass) were pesky little baitstealers, they averaged about 7" long. It's amazing to see one that big.

Good question. Based on yellow specs. This looks it May be a bass, white x yellow. I didn't even consider that it may be a hybrid.

Just checked to see if there is a tooth patch and there is so it is not a true yellow. So will not be a new record.

Those yellow X's fool us all the time. Still a nice fish,

Weirdly enough, I have the record on Tawakoni for one of those freaks, and at the time, it was a state record.

Bass, White x Yellow 3.50 pounds 18.00 inches Jul 15, 1989.

The TP&W biologists got excited over it and came and took a liver sample to make sure of what it was.

@ Tim Cline-- I hope they dont use it for bait...Its a gamefish and that is frowned on

@Salsa- They take a tissue sample and DNA test it. They did that for my record @ Benbrook

On a side note, I've heard these fish referred to as "bar bass" and "Louisiana bar bass".
