Fished Sunday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and caught 41 whites, two crappie. Caught everything way up the Yegua, farther up than where Monsterfireworks fished that same day). Caught the last 26 fish in the same hole! They were still biting when I left. I kept 20 (and that was too many for the long walk back). The last hole held mostly females 14-15 inches. Used 3/16th inch pearl-colored curly tail on hot pink jig head. Nice job finding them.

I am about sick of seeing all these pictures of full stringers when I have gotten skunked 2 out of 2 trips out there.

Those guys with the full stringers usually have a big head start when it comes to consistently finding the fish... there is no substitute for experience and skill when it come to fishing the Yegua.. The "luck" factor is being there when the fish first turn on. You can be doing everything right but just not line up on some feeding fish. Consequently if you find the fish and they are feeding you might not do what is best but still catch a bunch of fish.. That's the "Lucky" part.. Sometimes only a jolt of electricity will bring'em up off the bottom and out of their cold coma..

Has anybody tried Nails Creek recently? Thinking about taking the yak out there on Saturday or maybe just banking it.

Hey Jared! Nails was on my list when I went camping a little over a week ago. Lower than I thought it would be. If yakin, I would stick downstream from Newmans...there are still plenty of females in the deeper pools!

Naggler, thanks. How did your camping trip go?
I was thinking about Nails for the Crappie, don't think there will be many Whites in there. The Yegua should be holding both though, you're right about the deeper pools. Decisions, decisions.

I have been approached about making a film on catching whites during the spawn. It sounds great, but why should I reveal what has taken me years to figure out and put out there for a bunch of pot lickers to absorb this knowledge and run with it for free. Something about this idea doesn't feel right.

Potlickers? If you're not careful 'Fishytx' the paparazzi will be following you around. They'll be rolling the red carpet out for you at Irwin Bridge.

You understand where I'm coming from. Why just give up this info to POTLICKERS? It would be different if they would post every now and then as well. But there are a bunch of people who have never posted, they just get on here and read everyone else's reports.

If for one am still trying to figure the white bass fishing out. You have a wealth of knowledge that can be very helpful to others. The key to it is your heart and not always what others will do with what you decide to share. I was fishing a creek in dfw that I heard about on this forum and met a guide there by the name of Carey Thorn. He shared a few techniques with me an my son while we were fishing that were very helpful. He also has several videos of various fishing tips out there. We are all blessed to be blessings. It's not always our choice to decide who we bless or who benefits from our blessing. Again, your choice. Most importantly thanks for the knowledge you have already shared. Tony

I totally get it. There are definitely pros and cons to sharing information on public forums. Sometimes you have to be selective about what to share.

Carey knows what it takes to get bit. It's how you present your bait in each and every hole that matters. Every hole will fish a little different from the day before as the current slows down or the lake level drops. It changes all the time. The basics don't change just how you approach each and every hole to make a cast that makes a big difference. Also with a drop of just an inch in the water level will change where the fish are stacking up at in most holes, not all though. Store bought jigs have to be adjusted from the get go. They are made terrible. But I buy the cheapest ones I can find. You loose too much stuff to use the expensive good stuff, or hand tied jigs.
