I like the splits on fast moving baits like spinners or cranks and full grips on jigs, worms, jerk baits and c-rigs.

Have both and greatly prefer full grip, with no foregrip. There are some rods that I will not buy due to the fact that they are unavailable in full grip. G.Loomis IMX Mag Bass comes to mind first and foremost. I now buy the Mossyback series. I have very large hands and the grips on 90% of the split grip rods are too small for my paws. Aesthetics, not ergonomics are the driving force behind today's split grip rage. Weigh that little chunk of cork on a digital scale and then tell me if that less than 1/4 oz of missing weight make a difference in the rods weight? Even if it did, the weight reduction is on the wrong side of the balance point. The only reason I prefer no foregrip is that it allows me to keep my index finger on the blank and the fact that a foregrip serves no purpose on a bass rod. I won't even go into my opinion on micro guides. I say all this because in nearly 50 years of serious bass fishing I have seen too many of these fads come and go.

I like the full grip for no other reason than the splits get hung up in my hoodie and jacket pockets smirk

The only time I use a full grip is when I'm cranking, throwing an A-rig or flipping the thickest, nastiest cover I can find.

So you're willing to pay out the ears for titanium guides and lightweight blanks but a 1/4 oz of cork doesn't make a difference? hmmm

I like the split grip, but they can rather tedious to get in and out of the rodlocker.

I agree. I have round rubber rod holders for the butt section of the rod and it can be a pain at times to get the rod out, for me, not so much out of the rod box but from the passenger area of the boat.

Full grips all the way! I own some split grips and really don't like them that much.

exactly, I can't believe you were only one that said this so far. I don't mind split grips, but they get hung and sometimes you even feel like a big one is biting! laugh

As a matter of fact, I am. The weight savings as I mentioned earlier are on the wrong place on the rod, which does nothing to help the balance of the rod. If I'm really in love with a particular rod I will buy it, remove the rear grip and replace it with full cork. Also did you not notice that the weight reduction is on the WRONG side of the balance point, thereby making the rod more tip heavy. No bueno!
