I bought a used Legend Alpha 211 last year. I was shopping for a Ranger and found the Legend before I found a Ranger I was interested in. I could not be happier. I wanted a Ranger for many of the reason people have listed above. I can tell you that Legend has many if not more of those qualities. If your buying used, like I did, gently used may be more important than the exact brand as long as your looking at top manufacturers. I am extremely impressed with my Legend. If you see one priced right, I would urge you to give it a look.

This thread cracks me up. Bovine, good luck with your search. Lots of great boats out there. As others said, have it checked out before turning over your cash or signing the note.
LET’S GO BRANDON!!!

I like dealing with Rockwall marine, the entire staff are knowledgable, are honest, have treated me more as family and truly have taken care of me.
With whatever boat you choose do your homework on the boat and dealer you choose.....
+1. These guys are world class and will take care of you, no matter what brand you buy! There have been many times when they have bent over backwards to get me quickly, and more importantly, safely back on the water. There's a reason you see owners of every brand of boat under the sun having service done there. Experienced, sincere and honest guys here.

I had a Bass Cat Jaguar for 5 years ... great boat . Dad has a 20' Ranger for the last 5 years ... great boat . I have been in Phoenix 921 since 2013 and it is by far the best boat I have ever been in . Go take a ride in one and see for yourself . If you can , try to ride in several brands . Just do yourself a favor and be sure to take a ride and drive a Phoenix . There are plenty of really good boats on the market and I have been in most of them at some point or another . Something about this Phoenix .. or maybe its everything about this Phoenix just has me sold .

I love how people compare old rangers against new other brands. Ranger makes a C model boat that most you guys have never sat in. Try one then compare.

Ive noticed nitro is a lot cheaper than the rest. Is there a reason for this? Are they built cheaper? IMO they look nicer. They have tons of features that I personally like. Specifically I was looking at the 2014 nitro z8 going for somewhere around the 30k i dont remember the exact price, new on nitro's website. If anyone has one, or has driven one, how are they in rough water/windy conditions, between driving and fishing. Also what is a dealers demo? Is that what they have on the show room, and since its not straight from the factory you get it cheaper?

Bovine, all kidding about ranger aside, I run one so I am partial to them. You got to ask yourself some questions. How long do you plan on owning it? What type of water do you fish mostly, deep, shallow, backwater, main lake? Are you planning on fishing a bunch of tournaments? What size lakes you gonna fish? Your budget? You plan on adding gadgets to it, some gadgets are real expensive if you don't get with the boat? Storage? Tow vehicle? All the above stuff should cross your mind, and never get attached to one until its yours, be ready to walk away from just about any deal you look at, it's expensive, they are not easy to unload, take your time. I'm not going to bash nitro you mentioned above, it would not be my first option there are bunches of newer used out there. Check them out, be patient.

Dealers demo or Pro's 'turn-in' is basically like new. You would be the first and original owner with all the warranties, etc. Only difference is you would save a LOT of MONEY!!! God Bless

The rangers just seem too expensive for my taste. Even the used ones are more expensive than some other makes new.

Again, brand doesn't mean much, all the top companies are making good boats, figure out what fits your needs and check book. Depending on how you fish an 18-19 foot boat may be all you need and you can save a bunch doing that. If your fishing big lakes and plan on paying a bunch of entries for tournaments there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to get where you want to go. Under those circumstances go 20-21 ft. Lots of factors.

I have had 18ft rangers, I have one now and I go where I need to go, even high winds and big waves might get alittle wet, but it handles and makes it like 21ft boat. Most buy 20-21-22ft for the room and comfortablitiy, Depends on how much room you need, I fish a lot of tourneys solo and 18ft does just fine for me.

Your most common reply will probably be "buy the boat I own" it is the best. Do yourself a favor and go look at them and ride if possible. Talk to other fishermen face to face. The forums are a challenge to get unbiased info like which boat or truck should I buy.
