Those are pretty good slabs. My basset hound took one the same way when he was 6 months. He wasn't anywhere near as calm as the gull.... Good Job

Let's hear the story!

Well this story took me back several years ago when dad and I were fishing one summer morning at Ray Hubbard .. There must have been 20 to 25 boats all in a small area down twords the damn area catching sandies left and right along with several birds working the area! Right dab in tha middle of the chaos was what looked like a wounded egret ... Saw that no one was paying any attention to it ..so we trolled between several boats to get to the bird that had actually was tangled in someone's line that had wrapped the wings and legs of egret with the slab just barely into one of his feet. With several attempts to fly the bird now is completely exhausted which enabled us (dad) to grab the tangled line and pull the big bird to the boat !! With one last lil flap of his wings he gave up and dad picked him up and hugged him so I could cut the line off and get the slab out of the foot of bird. (Bird did relief himself all down dads shirt) sarcastic So as we lowered bird back into water the egret held close to the boat ....and after a few minutes the egret climbed his way back into our boat near the motor OMG It was very cool we had earned his trust!! So we proceeded to keep fishing with our new lil friend ...a few minutes later he perched himself on top of the motor calen were he stayed until we were done fishing that morning. As I started the engine he didn't flinch !! So we idled closer to the shore and as soon as we got close enough he took off in flight and landed up on the bank... We looked for a bird to come land on us the next dozen times out ..but with no avail fish
Thank you again Terri for the story of Slabbie....

I can picture a feel-good movie titled "Slabbie The Seagull's Adventure", staring Slabbie, Lakeguide, and Ms. Salsa grin
Good stuff! thumb

My wife got deep hooked by a 2 oz slab once. But she would not go near me because I was holding a large pliers. I even gave her crackers but she refused. So off to the ER and the doc removed it 3 hrs later and she has been with me ever since grin
