Ok, I give up, lol. 1997 Evinrude 225 Vindicator. Cruising about 35 mph engine bogs down, like very little power. Seems to sputter along then runs again, then slows again. I idled back to the ramp and loaded it. Seemed like a fuel issue but also thought maybe power pack. Never have done any work to this engine other than general maintenance so I've been blessed there. Anyway, thought maybe the old original fuel lines were the issue. Removed seats, replaced fuel line from the fuel tank to the fuel pump with the newest thing that's supposed to be ethanol resistant (bought from boat dealership). Replaced primer bulb and inline fuel filter too. Fired it up in the driveway (with water) and she ran fine, then slowly died, like it was fuel starved. Bulb was a little soft again so I pumped it back up and refired, same thing. Also want to mention that my NO OIL ALARM will occasionally go off, despite the resevoir being full. This is more typical during cool weather. Plenty of blue smoke too when starting so I doubt that is a problem. Have read that these NO OIL alarms are sometimes related to fuel restrictions. I've decided to take it to a dealership to have it worked on, I need that boat running! lol kids are clamoring to go fishing.

Having said that, I need advice for a good Evinrude mechanic. I live in Bedford (HEB). Thought about taking it to Rockwall Marine but wanted to see if there are good recommendations closer to me, if not, to Rockwall I go. Thx

I had similar experience .. I had a kink in a fuel line and it was starving for fuel do you have two tanks? ( I had a bend in fuel line from putting a trolling motor battery too far back) does it do it on both tanks?
Good Luck...

Replace the VRO pump, bet it solves your problem in both fuel delivery and oil alarm.
