I'd get a 23 tempest... A 6" jackplate...and let Steve balance and add a little cup to the new prop..... Set it about 3.75" below pad to start and it'll feel like a different boat....

Do a search on Nitro`s hole shot. I have personally seen guy`s spend a couple of thousand dollars trying to get on plan quicker and maintain top end speed in these early model Nitro`s when tournament loaded. http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/9226078/Re_Sluggish_Hole_Shot

What are you trying to compare to? Out of all of the boats I have been working on for 40+ years Nitro`s have always had the strangest problems. Leaning on throttle up and plowing. Good Luck

I know how experienced you are Mr. Purdy....just relaying my single observation.... His boat will do better with a jackplate so he can trim it and prop change/tune to maximize that efficiency.... May not be great, but it will be better for less than 600$

What I am trying to tell you is he can leave the fuel tank at 1/2, the livewells at 1/2 and not spend anything. Weight distribution also helps.

I would love to not spend anything however fishing tournaments I need to get this prob fixed. Half livewell and gas is not really an option and the weight just my tackle in the front middle section of the boat it's only 20 pounds worth. All other compartments are empty. With my fishing partner and I it just doesn't break over if the water is warm he normally lays on the front deck to help it get on pad lol.

don't fill livewells till you are at your first stop, use the timer.

591 is a holeshot pig with a 200. 150 will be even more sick. It was the hardest hull to setup I've ever battled.
The only salvation is electric trim tabs which isn't usually seen on a bass hull but it's the best fix.

If Steve will give you a money back guaranty go for it.

I would do exacly as Kingwoodcat said. He is spot on! I would have to agree except the 5800 rpms do not make sense unless that motor has been worked. My 175 turned 5800 - 6000 stock with a 23 and that was pre ethanol. I would think that boat needs a 22 or to have Steve work that 24. Maybe drop the pitch a little and add some cup.
