I may be able to go after work on tues or thurs for a couple hours, but I plan on returning for sure on saturday weather permitting. Need to put my girl on some fish.
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.
In a world of compromise.....Some don't.

I'm at home from leave. Deploy out mid month, lucky had time to hit the creek. It's still early and the run hasn't even started to happen. Next few weeks y'all will have some good fishing... Best of luck to ya guys.

Fished with a friend on Sunday at the WMA. I ended up with 22 whites and he ended up with 3 whites and 1 nice crappie. All fish were caught in deep pools on 1/16 oz jig heads. We moved around a lot going back and forth. I walked/stepped on a dead tree right along the edge of a 14 ft embankment about 3 times. I told my friend, the next person who steps on the log it is going to break. Sure enough 15 minutes later I was not thinking and stepped on the log. It completely crumbled and I landed face first sliding down the embankment. The bad part was I was right on the edge of the embankment. So when I went face forward it was not like I feel on the ground. I went over the side. Luckily I drug my steel toed water boots behind me and stopped. My face was point toward the water and my feet were about 2 ft over the embankment. I am bruised, sore, and shaken up but no broken bones. My buddy said I looked like an alligator sliding into the water. But it was a good trip over all.

I hope I can swing a trip this afternoon. I may not get much time on the water, but a little is better than none. I plan to get a full day on Wednesday for sure. My white bass fever has kicked into high gear. I can not get enough of this type of fishing. Something about that ultralight tackle and good pulling fish. These are main source of fish I fillet and keep.

Hey Monster FW that's one of those stories you'll be able to share the rest of your life. Glad you didn't get to hurt and you did catch a bunch so that should ease the pain.
Be Careful Out There Peeps! There's 1000 accidents just waiting to happen you on those creeks. It's worth the risk though!
Thanks for the report guys!

I know this is a bank fishing thread for the most part but how is the fishing down where the Yegua hits the lake? Thinking about taking my boat and launching at Nails park but never tried fishing down there. Anything I should do different or not do? Thanks!

Is there any chance I could do good from my small boat? I went up Yegua last month and went just a little ways past wolf pond but the water was too high and muddy. Due to recent health issues there's no way I can maneuver those slippery banks, so I was thinking about trying with the boat tomorrow. I keep hearing that due to so much water this year the fish are way upstream... think there's a chance of finding then below Newman's?
Thanks, Brandon

Lake level is at 239.1 feet. 1.1 foot above normal. Release rate dropped to 813 CFS.
I would gamble on a trip up the Yegua. There are bound to be more fish moving up stream and the water is clearing up. I would try Wolf Pond and keep moving up the creek from there.

Hey are you guys bank fishing or fishing off kayaks? I live in Austin and wanted to plan a fishing/camping trip out there around the first week of March. I read some where there are alligators there, is that for real? Doesn't sound like a safe place to fish.
