Just got informed the 11th is the date of my grandson's birthday party, may not be able to come.

I will try and make it out there, since Aquilla is not that far from me. I still need to find the other 3 or 4 brush piles on this lake. I plan on using Old School ramp. Watch out for those two humps in the lake, last time I was out almost hit one until I realized damn there was grass sticking out of the water in the middle of the lake.

I would highly suggest if have not hit Aquilla before those that are new to the lake get a few pointers before they take off ....it has quite a few obstacles in it for sure
that there sand bar runs dang near across the middle of the lake !

This sounds like fun. I used to turkey hunt near there and I'd take the boat along and hit Aquilla after the morning hunt. Season always opens right around the 1st of April and there were always several folks bank fishing and slamming the crappie at the old school boat ramp. Most years, when you commented on how good the fishing was, they'd all say "Yeah, but you should have been here a week or two ago".

What I do know about the lake:

You will catch a lot of bass. They tend to be in the same spots you find the crappie (3' or less deep, up tight against stumps).

They don't allow camping anywhere on the lake... That isn't to say that people don't do it, but the ones I've seen have boated to their campsite and they keep a very low profile.

Parking can be at whatever ramp the boaters choose. But if you want space to have everyone together for lunch, you're better off at the old school ramp. Just be prepared to make a lot of bank fishermen mad when everyone starts parking in their honey hole!

I'll keep an eye on this one. Might be something I can make it to.
