I'm beginner and I plan to fish later on today at the creek that connects joe pool to mountain creek. I'm gonna be in my kayak plan to paddle upstream to the dam and work my way down. Any suggestions on lures for whites or crappie.

Inline spinners like a Mepps or Roostertail. Underspin like a roadrunner. Small sassy shad on a jig head. I'd even try a small Rapala minnow.
Semper Fi This Veteran heavily medicated for your safety. Keep me fishing and all will be well.

Small Rattle Traps in silver and blue should also work.

Glad you had good luck. The cheap marabou jigs from WalMart also work well.
